Charlton in Charge

It’s been a while between updates but here’s a new comic featuring the island’s armorer: Charlton Heston. Heston is a gun nut that could give Charles Bronson a run for his money so they let him handle all the matters related to firearms. For great tough guy roles by Heston check out Ben Hur, True Lies, and his 70’s Sci Fi Trilogy: Planet of the Apes, The Omega Man, and Soylent Green.

One of the reasons I’ve been slow in updating is that I’ve been spending a lot of time over at the Action Alliance. The board is really growing so drop in and start a thread about your favourite action film from the 60’s to today.

Bronson in DW3
Okay, I’ve been gone a while but now I’m back and the first link up is a Death Wish Quiz on AMC’s blog: The Future of Classic. If you think you know the answers to all the questions (I love those movies and I’m not sure I do) then send them in. You could win a copy of the Dirty Dozen. Not too shabby.

You Owe Him!

April 17th, 2008

As of this minute Paul Kersey is ranked number one on AMCTV.com’s poll for the greatest male movie hero. It’s rare in this day and age to see Bronson getting this kind of respect.

You can vote to keep him there!

When Bronson says “Vote or Die”, you believe him!

How to Use the Three Seashells!

April 13th, 2008

I recently found an article on I-Mockery.com that clearly explains how to use the Three Seashells from the movie Demolition Man. This solution to the oft posed question “How do you use the seashells?” was taken from an interview Sylvester Stallone did with Ain’t it Cool News back in 2006.

In case you were unaware, in the film Demolition Man, toilet paper is obsolete and has been replaced by three seashells. In that film John Spartan was mocked for his lack of knowledge about how to use them. With this article you can make sure you’ll never be in that position.

Charlton Heston Dead at 84

April 6th, 2008

Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing “Ben-Hur” and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the ’50s and ’60s, has died. He was 84. The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side.

Heston revealed in 2002 that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer’s disease, saying, “I must reconcile courage and surrender in equal measure.”

Publicist Michael Levine, who represented Heston for about 20 years, said the actor’s passing represented the end of an iconic era for cinema. “If Hollywood had a Mt. Rushmore, Heston’s face would be on it,” Levine said. “He was a heroic figure that I don’t think exists to the same degree in Hollywood today.”
